Fashion Don’t

So in the past 14 days it’s become clear that none of my coats fit. They don’t button or zip up or hold together against the force that is boobs and bump. I didn’t want to buy a winter maternity coat because it seemed like a waste.  It’s nearly spring (yes, that is an effort to convince myself) and this coat would likely get minimal wear…who the heck knows exactly when we’d be going for baby #2 – but the coat could be completely out of style at that point or maybe not necessary at all with the timing…we could be living in Santa Barbara afterall and have no need for coats at all.

I was steadfast – no maternity coat.  DONE DEAL. Until yesterday – when I saw a picture of myself that I had consented to have taken where I looked like I had 2 small balloons and one larger balloon trying to get out of my coat.  It was awful – I was all in denial…it’s a cute coat from JCrew that I hunted for at the outlets for a long time because I just didn’t want to spend $400 on a winter coat, blah blah…and now I looked like I was hiding a fruit stand in my coat.  Not a good look.

So I went online and saw a really cute trench khaki coat on Gap.com Maternity and I just bought it.  I figure a trench style coat is ideal because I can dress it up or down – it’s likely going to rain from time to time and I’ll want a jacket to wear that actually does button.  And I can throw a fleece layer under it to make it warmer should the weather turn.  So until this coat is delivered and you see a lady that hasn’t done her hair in a good 4 days and has appeared to try to hijack a child’s birthday party balloons – pay her no mind…she’s anxiously awaiting UPS.

  1. OMG hiding a fruit stand in your coat… hijacking a childs balloon party… you are cracking me up! HAHAH!

I bought a maternity coat from Old Navy last fall and I’ve worn it all winter.. I look like a big large black blob but… ehh who cares.

  2. you will be glad you bought a maternity jacket. i loved mine (it’s springier from target) but it was nice to have something that FIT. you should post photos!!

  3. I have been putting it off too. I have a trench coat that I can actually still zip and have been wearing that and an old pull over from college. I keep seeing cute rain coats at Target but I live in TN and keep telling myself I won’t need a coat much longer.

Glad you got one – it sucks being without simple things!

  4. Aww I hate it when non of my cloth fit properly. At least you have an excuste :)
