Do you smell that?

I just had a crazy 36 minutes.  I could smell something – burning…like an electric coil burning.  I checked the dryer – which was on – emptied the lint container – followed the vent system up into the attic to see that there wasn’t a fire in that aluminum snake just waiting to take over our condo.  No fire.  I checked the stove.  I pulled the stove out from the wall, turned on all the burners to see if there was some gunk on the burners causing this odor – nothing.  Opened the stove – felt the coils – no fire.  Went to the basement – went by the furnace – smelled nothing – went upstairs turned the furnace on – no smell. Unplugged the dehumidifier (which I haven’t plugged back in because I’m lazy and I don’t want to go back down to the basement).  Went back to the attic, back to the stove, pulled out the refrigerator – no fire.  Went outside – walked the perimeter of the house – smelled fire wood but not this burning electric fire.  Went inside still smelled it.

Sat Down, decided i was crazy.  Still smelled it.  Did the above AGAIN.  On my last loop through the kitchen I noticed the dishwasher was almost done – opened it up – OVERWHELMED by smell.  The Hot Dry option was clicked on the dishwasher and that Hot Dry smells like an electrical fire.  That can not be good.  The fumes were unbelievable and can not be good for the dishes, the environment or me.  No more Hot Dry in this house.

I knew I smelled something.  Good thing I’m so neurotic.
